Granny Love

Today is my Mother-in-Law's birthday. I know I've said it before, but this woman is amazingly helpful. She's always up for babysitting, taking the kids to play, or just basically anything that you suggest. She also chipped in to buy me my Silhouette for Christmas. Therefore, I try to make her things from it whenever I can now. Since I've been loving heat transfer lately, I thought I would make her a personalized Granny shirt!

(I know, I need to iron it before wrapping it up)

I did a little play on Subway Art. I think it works for Valentine's too!

I hope she likes it!

My Little Love Bug

Kiki got some adorable lady bug leggings for Christmas, however, she didn't have a shirt to match! I finally got around to making her one today.

Her favorite pose lately:

I went to Goodwill and picked up a plain red shirt (yep, that's where hubby and I went for our date night!) and added some black heat transfer. But it wasn't quite enough.

(Sorry about the horrible pictures. Yesterday it was 70 and sunny, today it is back to being 30 and dark. Also, it seems I have to use the flash to get a non-fuzzy pic of this busy lady):

I added a few little bows on the sleeves and ladybug and then some ric-rac to the bottom. Viola! Another adorable V-Day outfit!

Sew Retro: More Heat Transfer!

I think I'm a wee bit addicted to this vinyl heat transfer stuff. Here's my new shirt:

Here's Finn's (doing his strong-man pose):

And Kiki's new shirt for gymnastics:

I Lost My Heat Transfer Virginity!

I was incredibly intimidated to try out vinyl heat transfer, but I did it! And it felt so good...

I ordered some black, pink and green vinyl from Specialty Graphics. I found they had the most reasonable shipping prices. I will definitely use them again, especially now that I'm addicted!

I wanted to make us some custom shirts for Disney World. They have a sort of royalty/Valentine theme. Here's mine:

Here's Kiki's:

Finn (in typical Finn fashion) refused to wear the shirt unless it was orange. In fact, when I showed him the finished shirt, he said, "But it's supposed to be ALL orange." I gave myself a lesson in futility by trying to explain to him that if it was all orange, it wouldn't say anything on it. It's not very Valentine-ish, but whatev:

I haven't made my hubby's yet, but it'll match Finn's, with the words "King of the Castle."

Here's the back of all of the shirts:

I even made some matching car bags for the trip! I love those jersey knit sheets from Target and they always come with a little carrying bag that I keep:

This was SO easy to do! I'm sure I'll be making more!
